Last chance!

This weekend is the last chance to see our Illustration Spectacular.  We've had some lovely comments about our work and it's been brilliant to see people leave with smiley faces and brown paper parcels in their arms.   So if you haven't done so already (or even if you have), come along and see our show, have a cuppa and cake, and relish the splendour of our Spectacular!  And if your appetite needs more whetting, here's some pix of Paula's brand new work - snap it up while you can!

This is another of Paula's digital prints. There are lots of handsome foxes featuring in the Spectacular, I think.

Are you going to come and see these and more?

Tuesday 26 June 2012

18 days to go

Paula is working on some digital prints. This is the first of a 'House on the Hill' series. The colour is soooo delicious!

Sunday 24 June 2012

20 days to go

Kitty has been working on a series of drawings of men pulling faces for a mini book on facial exercises. If you want to see the rest you'll have to come and see the book itself at the Illustration Spectacular. Only 20 days to go! Eek!

Saturday 23 June 2012

21 days to go

Pam has been screenprinting. Here are some of the prints that worked...

and here is a small selection of the ones that didn't.

Friday 15 June 2012

29 days left to go

Here's one of Paula's digital prints from the set that she is working on for the Spectacular.

Thursday 14 June 2012

30 days to go

These are some snaps of work in progress for a set of screenprinted prints and cards Pam Smy is working on. Excuse the blurriness - I'm in a hurry - there are only 30 days left to go.

Tuesday 12 June 2012

32 days to go

Have you seen these lovely prints by Kitty on her website? See these and more delicious things at www.kittyguthrieoakley.com or come along to the Inky Crows Illustration Spectacular in July.

Sunday 10 June 2012

34 days to go

On Friday night the Inky Crows got together to make toy cat bodies for the Spectacular. Here is one that Paula finished off on the evening.

By the end of the evening there were orange, black, red, grey and green cat bodies (and a few empty bottles of wine). Paula has taken them away (the cats, not the empty wine bottles) to work her magic on.

Friday 8 June 2012

36 days to go

Paula has been screenprinting over the last couple of days. Here are some work in progress shots...

Thursday 7 June 2012

37 days to go

Kitty has been working on some tunnel books for the Spectacular. Here is a sneaky preview, although she's not letting us wee what's inside. I can't wait to find out...

Friday 4 May 2012

71 days to go

The wonderful Paula Metcalf is working on some beautiful collages in preparation for our opening on July 14th. I love this cheeky fox, and can't wait to see more...

Sunday 29 April 2012

76 days to go

This is an area from one of the screenprints I have made for the Illustration Spectacular. The plum colour is printed on top of a tissue paper layer, so the studio is full of discarded blue leaves and tiny off cuts.

If you'd like to know what this lady is so upset about you'll just have to come along to see us from July 14th...

Friday 27 April 2012

78 days to go

Yes, the spring cleaning has begun to bring the house and studio into a state that won't distract from the work we'll be exhibiting. Any tips on how to get a neglected house looking shipshape and Bristol-fashion welcome...

In the meantime some close-ups from a foldout booklet under construction for our Inky Crows Illustration Spectacular.

Thursday 26 April 2012

79 days to go

It's true - the Inky Crows are up to tricks again, and we're excitedly counting down the days until we hang our 'Spectacular' exhibition.  This time it will be at Pam Smy's home/studio in Cambridge, and there will be three of us illustrators showing work: Pam, Paula Metcalf and me, Kitty Guthrie Oakley.  Between now and July, we'll post some titbits and snippets of our work: things we are in the middle of making, things we are thinking of making, and things that are finished.  As well as prints, drawings, collages, paintings, we're also going to have some renovated dolls' houses by Paula (which promise to be very beautiful).

To whet your appetite, here are some snippets of new screenprints by Pam  (based on a great storm in the 1700s), two pix of Paula's handmade toy dog, and some of Kitty's drawings of strange dolls. We have much, much more to come!
